Happy 100th Post

Im currently sitting watching 'Trans Atlantic sessions' which is a load of fiddles, fluets, bangos and many more highlandic/atlantic instruments. 

Its getting me into the idea of possibly living in Scotland next year for uni. So yes Uni, two digital portfolio requests and an interview so far....

So we shall see about university. Im slightly aggravated by the fact they ask so much of you...

4)you find out wether you get a place!

Its such a long process, and such hard work and its not even like i 'Win' something at the end, i get the chance to pay them lots of money ...reminds me abit of 'Ebay' (You don't WIN you BUY)

1.Happy New Year.

Im dead excited for this year, 2011 had lovely moments but at the same time im quite happy to see rid of it. 

But i shall open the new year with an extension of the last post, or should i say 'progression'. I finally finished the 'Holes' Project, so hear in video format is my final piece...

I've had a lovely past few days consisting of new years and birthday celebrations which took place in a remote part of carmarthenshire. In order for that to of happened, i had to make a decision. I based it on this... I believe that when it gets to the stage that something/somebody else is making decisions about your life that you don't agree with, then don't do it - My family comes first. 

The beginning of the project, which i'm now coming to the end of.

 I love this image of my new space, and the day i spent drawing stills from Frozen Planet.

That project was on 'Holes', and i went from light shafts to the Northern Lights, which isn't that far - a- jump. But it was a damn good day!

 Above on the left, was the mess left on the floor by my painting, im very proud of it. And on the right was the paper/material which below has been turned into clothing of an abstract sort.

Im a BIG fan of real Christmas Trees, and the buying process is always quite an event. Me, Mum, Aedan and Grace were given the responsibility. After much dilemma, Mum said the final words..


"We will get a nicer tree and a cheeper turkey this year" And oh how i agreed!

Enter new week, which im rather excited about, ive been off this week, but oh my have i missed not having a 'brief'.

So, my most recent project was based on dreadlocks, the second picture down is the final product, not shown in its best light or ideal environment, but hey, that comes in time.

I've struggled to know how i should react today. Its not often i feel anger before hurt, but thats what injustice does, it plays with your balance, i swear, even the most closed off person, the hardest person, has a place that feels and responds.
So, when i have nobody to talk to i just write.

NAKED FASHION.

Im reading a book called 'Naked Fashion' its by the founder of 'People Tree', Safia Minney, and is a vast collection of images/text/factual information about sustainable fashion. Its a huge closet of inspiration for me, and its been ruling 40% of my brain ever since i got it. 

Not the clearest pictures, but i wanted you to see what a beautiful book it is, content and layout. 

DEATH OF A SPY FLY.

The second thing i've been working on this week, is a project for my Art Foundation Course.

We got asked to create a site-specific installation based o the theme 'LEAVE NO TRACE'.

We spent time getting to know the building, discovering what caught our minds. And i came across a..

dead fly

And this dead fly, was the most interesting thing that i could find. So i rolled with it. 

And this is what i came up with...

I don't want to reveal all, but the idea i went with is that, 

'What if all the flies are machines working for the government tracking our every move'

And as you can see above, the video and soundtrack formed my final piece.

The most exciting bit about it for me, was where i got to project it.. The deserted stairwell where i found the fly, on this epic curved wall, the picture bellow kinda shows the scale, looking up at it..

So, this week concluded with me going to London, part school trip, part nanny's birthday, part see beautiful suzy!!
