I left you last week with the theme of crabs, and i join you again with the theme of crabs...
The only difference being, i am now working on there 3D siblings.

We did this cool thing and went on a trip to Hackney Scrap yard, and got loads of materials to work with. Out of my huge bag of objects (including a plastic plant, film cases, foam & a belt amongst others) i decided to roll, sticky back plastic, and consequentially haven't stopped all week.

We also did a photography workshop in the dark room making photograms, which was so much fun. I love how the little pieces of seaglass have a white ring around them.

The ice cream spoons i collected, taking on a more sophisticated look...

Its been a good week, i've had a (kind of) room mate who lives across the hall, my friend Char who lives in Sri Lanka. Which has been beyond lovely, having someone to chat in the hallway with.

I've also eaten a WHOLE box of french fancies to myself!.... Whilst watching the great british bake off comic relief edition.

Im getting back into the London swing, with becoming a victim of crime. (My purse was stolen)
Interesting fact i heard on the news today, theft has gone up by 3%! - I think that 3% was my case?!

The snow has brought me great joy... and time to apply for a new debit card, railcard, driving license etc etc.

I've discovered TED a site with loads of interesting talks on, its great as i can relax whilst feeling my brains expanding.

Have a great weekend, x

Its the end of my first week back at uni, its been mixed and i've found it quite overwhelming being back in London.  I've been frustrated with myself for being down, but today i sat outside uni and on the floor i saw this....

It's a quote by Aidan Andrew Dun, who from what i've just found out is a poet and musician who moved to london and in particular kings cross from the West Indies. I don't know what the context is or why it was written, but just the fact it says 'Kings Cross dense with angels' at the entrance to central saint martins, i find imense!

This is some of my work from this week, we've been looking at layout and collaging, my research was on harps, boats and crabs...

I'm starting to get the hang of photoshop and i quite enjoy it....

I'll leave you with a little exercise we had to do to practice rotation....

For my Christmas project we had to research 'Collections' and part of that was forming our own collection. I decided to base mine on a journey around the ice cream parlours of Mumbles. I visited 6 in total, disappointingly it wasn't all in one day, my stomach couldn't take more than 4 and my hands couldn't take the cold.

Ripples :- Coconut @ £1.45

Surfside Cafe Caswell:- Ginger & Honey @ 1.95

Joe's:- Vanilla @ 1.20

Pier Cafe:- Strawberry @ 1.50

Verdi's:- Mint Choc Chip @ 1.30

Fortes Bracelet Bay:- Blackcurent @ 1.35

Happy New Year...
This blog was my new years resolution for 2010, and this is my first post in 2013.

Last year was one of the quickest time periods of my life, and a year when some goals of mine came into realisation. Goals which i am now in the midst of. I am so thankful and in ore of God and how my first term in London has panned out.

This year, i am much more expectant of what i am capable of. Our bodies are amazing structures, built with such detailed intricate elements - and i don't believe i have seen the fullness of what its capable of.

A friend of mine brought this quote to my attention;

"The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing...to find the place where all the beauty came from." - C.S Lewis

Martin Scott said this "yet there is an inner peace to be found that will help transform me into a life-giver." Peace is something which has been on my mind throughout this last term, i felt strongly that it was a quality i needed to develop in order to enjoy university amongst the often intense, stressful atmosphere it can surround you with.

I can see a strong relationship with having a deep inner sense of peace (Shalom) which then sets you free to focus your sights on beauty.
This year if i can achieve one thing, it will be to enter every situation with a longing to find the stem of beauty in that place, for where beauty is the creator will be also.

I am heading back to London this afternoon. I've had such a lovely time being home and will miss it, but feel ready to take on the big city once again.

This is one big reason why its good to come home....

Morning walks around the cliffs, getting sprayed by the waves due to the high tide.

A little list of discoveries i've made this week...

A tea towel by Anrol designs, i just laughed, i think its brilliant...

I discovered her last week whilst wondering through spitfields market, she has a pop up shop throughout december which just looks so simple and beautiful. She makes her clothes out of recycled fabric. I love her whole concept and how she styles her work just as much as the pieces themselves.

I was in Liberty today and stumbled across a denim brand which i looked up a few weeks ago. They reuse old denim, mush it up and create new jeans. Pricey, but amazing. If you have time you should deffinatly watch this video about there process.

'Collections' is the theme of my christmas project. Christmas projects suck in general, but its quite a good topic. I went to the Horniman Museum, which is quite bazar but amazing, and they have a whole room full of every type of instrument you can imagine, i thought these harps were rather lovely....

I have come to the end of my list, i had to keep myself occupied seeing as i don't have 'sufficient bandwidth' to watch made in chelsea :( x

Since i last posted i've come through 2 weeks of drawing/photoshop and 2 weeks of knitting.
Which have ultimately concluded in me handing all 4 of my projects from this term, in for assessment on friday. So i feel quite liberated right now!

We had to be very experimental for our knit project, to quote our tutor...

"If you aim for Dior you'll end up with Topshop, But if you aim for Topshop you'll end up with Etam."

Can't really see my work gracing the shelves for any of those labels, i think mines more natural geographic...  but who knows maybe thats next seasons inspiration?!

For our photoshop project we had to make colour charts out of images we took around our local area.
My colour was Green....

Interestingly, where knit was 'experimental' apparently this project had tight restrictions. My first attempt was the chart bellow, which was wrong - and the chart above was right. I however think the chart bellow is much more interesting.

Colour charts have been and will be a frequent event in my future im lead to believe...

We had to do colour studies on location so hears a couple of photos from v&a, Kew & south bank...

This term has been really full on, but i feel like i've achieved a lot. I forget that not only have i started this course but i've set up home in a new place, joined a new church and explored London. Its been crazy. I realise i've spoken mostly about my course on hear, but over christmas when im back in Wales and have a chance to process whats happened, i'll try and post about other aspects.
Im going home in 9 days!! I can't wait to run on the beach, chill by the xmas tree in my pj's, not have to cook, see friends. Very excited! x
