This week has been spent screen printing, im really enjoying it. Its physically quite demanding, washing screens, mixing colours, printing - the whole process is quite long and tiering. But its all worth it when you produce something that works.

The image bellow is my first attempt, we're using the fabric we dyed ourselves....

Straight screen printing...

Hand painting the sails...

over printing in orange....

Blocking & mono printing. This one is my favourite so far....

Mono printing, stencilling and straight screen print...

Im quite disorganised when it comes to printing, im not much of a planner and don't tend to visualise final outcomes. I take the trial and error approach which isn't the most reliable at times. I work best with 3D forms and its quite a learning curve to produce something which is flat.
But the Print room is such an amazing place, theres like 50 students (mix of textiles & fashion print) dotted along these long 10meter tables, all creating different stuff, its loud and dysfunctional but theres a system in there somewhere.

I had the chance to go and see Glen Hansard for a belated birthday present for Warren. It was incredible, he played for 2 hours and i've never witnessed anything like it. I know, and have seen, many talented musicians, and what i love is the difference in attack that each give. Glen has this wild spirit which moved through the whole theatre. His voice propelled me to joy and then to tears, it struck me with wonder and a need to commit, enjoy and give, to all i do in life.

'This Gift' was one of my favourites, hear it is....
